The Miracles of Sabah Snake Grass

The Miracles of Sabah Snake Grass
 Sabah Snake Grass is also called 优遁草

What about the effects of chemotherapy and radiation when patients going through many rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy?
Ans: The patient's immune system may be compromised. The patients are likely to succumb to various kinds of infections and complications. The cancer cells may become resistant and difficult to be destroyed, as such it may lead to cancer cells to mutate, resulting in metastasis.

Can the effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy ensure no coming back or metastasis of cancer cells?
Ans:  From many reports of cases, many cancer patients experienced relapse of cancer and metastasis of malignant cells after few years.

When should cancer patients take Sabah Snake Grass?
Ans: Cancer patients can try to consume the SSG, preferably the fresh ones.  We have consulted a famous Chinese physician in Singapore.  She is Dr. Ong Swee Ling 王瑞玲中医博士. These are what she advised:

1). It is best to take SSG after chemotherapy and radiotherapy because the chemotherapy and radiotherapy are destroying the cancer cells, therefore it is not necessary to take SSG;

2). Cancer patients can consider taking SSG one month after chemotherapy and radiotherapy. This is because the effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy have not worn off. SSG may be able to prevent the cancer sells from growing again;

3). As SSG is cooling in nature, for those who experience purging, nausea, weakness and poor appetite, it is better not to take fresh SSG, but instead they can boil the SSG with galangal (高良姜)and red dates (红枣). Galangal is a herb like ginger, it is warm in nature, so it can help to neutralize the cooling effects of SSG.  Galangal is also used in Chinese TCM as herbs.

4). Cancer patients can take SSG together with TCM herbs prescribed by qualified Chinese physicians.  Prescribed TCM herbs are good in balancing the “YING” and “YANG” of the body, so one need not worry that their body is too cooling or too heaty.

Why so many cancer patients take Chinese herbal medicine after chemotherapy and radiotherapy? We have consulted Dr. Ong Swee Ling 王瑞玲中医博士 and she explained:
Ans: The current practice in treating cancer upon diagnosis is to go for surgery followed by Radiotherapy or Chemotherapy. TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) accepts this approach but recommends that it should be followed up with Chinese herbal medicine jointly with or after chemotherapy/radiotherapy.  In fact almost 90% of cancer patients see Chinese physician and continue to take Chinese herbs for many years. Chinese medicine has the following benefits:-

1. Chemotherapy/radiotherapy may cause nausea, hair loss, loss of appetite, fatigue, diarrhea /constipation, flatulence, drop in platelets, red blood cells and white blood cells count. Chinese medicine can help to reduce the side effects and thereby improve the recovery process by increasing immunity and resistance.

2. Chemotherapy/radiotherapy may affect the digestive system and reduce the blood reproduction ability. Chinese medicine can help to overcome such risks.

3. In the long term, regular consumption of Chinese medicine improves the quality of life of the cancer patients and also reduce the chances of recurrence and increase the survival rate.

The conventional wisdom of western medicine in the past had been to treat cancer aggressively with chemo/radiotherapy. Over the years, it has been found that such aggressive treatment does not help to increase the survival rate but instead has led to a reduction in the quality of life and cause unnecessary suffering. In some cases, it lowered the immunity and vitality of patients resulting in quicker death.

The current emphasis by TCM is to increase the patients’ vitality, maintain the proper functioning of the organs, prevent the further spread of the cancer cells (稳定瘤体), reduce suffering and restore normality in daily life. In some cases, although the cancer cells might not be totally eliminated, the patients can continue to survive (达到 “带瘤生存的效果).

In general, Chinese medicine brings about a balance in “ying” and “yang”, vitality and the proper functioning of the vital organs 使身体阴阳气血脏腑功能趋于平衡.
In conclusion, combined western treatment with Chinese medicine can achieve better quality of life and survival rate.
